BURTON. Pioneer Resident of Custer County Passes After Long Illness. Funeral services for Mrs. J. A. Burton, 50, pioneer resident of Custer county, will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Pie Flat school building, according to tentative arrangements announced today. Mrs. Burton and Mr. Burton homesteaded on land four miles east of Hammon, about 32 years ago, coming here from Grayson county, Tex., near Van Alstyne. Besides her husband, J. A. Burton, one child, Mrs. Ruby Whitt, of Dallas, Tex., survives Mrs. Burton. Mrs. Burton died Tuesday afternoon in a city hospital. She had been in poor health for several months, and was brought to a hospital here ten days ago. Two brothers, T. J. Burgess and F. E. Burgess, of near Hammon, and a sister, Mrs. F. C. Corum, of Liberal, Kans., survive Mrs. Burton. Interment will be made in Red Hill cemetery. Killough-Hulum, funeral directors, are in charge of arrangements.
