All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************ CADDELL, HAROLD LEWIS (28 Mar 1929, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1:30 at the Broadway Methodist church in Elk City for Harold Lewis Caddell who died in Rochester, Minn., March 22, 1929, after an illness of five weeks. Rev. H. W. Shirley, pastor of the Baptist church, officiated at the funeral ceremony. Mr. Caddell was well known in Elk City having moved here four years ago from Oklahoma City. He was associated with the Planter's Gin. For several years Mr. Caddell had been interested in the cotton business throughout Western Oklahoma, and has lived in the towns of Granite, Frederick, Hobart, and Oklahoma City, before coming to Elk City. He was well known throughout this section of the state, and the large number of out of town friends and men who were associated with him in the cotton business indicated the statewide friendship which he enjoyed in business. A beautiful song service paid last tributes to Mr. Caddell. Mrs. C. C. Baker sang, "Face to Face," and Robert L. Cooper and Mrs. Virgil Hill sang a duet. Two numbers were sung by the mixed choir which consisted of a blend of voices from the different church choirs. Pall bearers were: J. R. Dennis, J. D. Garnett, C. C. McGaugh, C. C. Baker, T. R. Johnson, H. D. Mansur, P. E. Hopper and Walter Blackburn. Honorary pall bearers were cotton men from Oklahoma City who had been associated with Mr. Caddell in business. Interment was made in Fairlawn cemetery. Grubitz and Son, funeral directors, were in charge of arrangements. Mr. Caddell was born in Aubrey, Texas, December 4, 1893. He was 36 years, 3 months and 18 days old at the time of his death. He was married to Myrtle Waddell Basset, April 3, 1912. One child, Harold LaVerne, who attends high school in Elk City, was born to this union. Relatives who survive his death besides Mrs. Caddell and LaVerne are his parents who live in Granite, his twin brother, Harwood Caddell who lives at Mangum, and Mr. and Mrs. Riley of Enid. (28 Mar 1929, Thursday, Erick Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Riley and family of Enid, who are house guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Gillum accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Gillum and Mrs. Alice Riley attended the funeral of Harry Caudell (sic), brother-in-law of Mrs. Charley Riley at Elk City Tuesday. (4 Apr 1929, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): FORMER GRANITE MAN DIES AT MAYO HOSPITAL. Horald (sic) Caddell, former well known Granite man, died last Friday at the (sic) where he had been taken some weeks ago for treatment. Deceased is the son of Mr. and Mrs. B. C. Caddell of this place, and was well known to a majority of our people. He is survived by his widow, who was Miss Myrtle Bassett, of Granite, and one child.
