All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************ CANAVAN, MARTIN (4 Nov 1921, SouthWest Press, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): EARLY SETTLER DIES WEDNESDAY. Martin Canavan's body was laid to rest in the Fairlawn cemetery yesterday after funeral services at the Baptist church at 2 p.m., Rev. Edw. D. Hamilton officiated. Mr. Canavan had been a member of the Baptist church for six years. Martin Canavan was one of our early settlers, having homesteaded his place five miles west of this city. He was a native of Ireland, born August 12, 1845, and 76 years of age at the time of his death. He leaves several grown children and many dear friends to mourn his going. He was a good friend of the writer, who with the host of friends, extends sympathies to those who are nearest and dearest to him. CARD OF THANKS.
