R. Carpenter, who passed away Tuesday evening after a brief illness of pneumonia. For a little over six months this bright, healthy and especially winsome babe brought sunshine to the hearts of the doting parents and cheered them as only a bit of tender humanity can cheer. Though spared to her loved ones for just such a short time yet because of her sweet, pure life the world is made better, and because of her spirit, now in glory, heaven is made brighter. She was a ray of sunshine, taking hold of all hearts and now that the tender tie is broken in the home we realize the loss of this bright little treasure will make her loved ones long to greet her again in that Heavenly home where she is now free from the sorrows and sufferings of this life. May God lighten the burden of those so sorely bereft. The Grim Reaper is no respecter; his ways are inscrutable. But sometime in the Great Beyond the cause of these heartaches will be explained. Funeral services were held at the Broadway Methodist Church on Wednesday morning, February 23, conducted by Rev. E. C. Webb. The pure white casket was covered with beautiful flowers, and many floral offerings were banked around. The choir sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus." Rev. Webb spoke such comforting words, bringing in the words of David that he could go to the loved one. The babe looked as if only asleep and there were few dry eyes when friends looked upon the little form for the last time and witnessed the terrible grief of the heartbroken parents. Interment was made in Fairlawn Cemetery under direction of Grubitz & Son. A Friend. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
