(27 Apr 1910, Wednesday, Elk City Record, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Died. Mrs. Ina J. Carris was born in Richburg, New York, in 1853, at the age of 14 she united with the M. E. Church in which faith she lived and died, being a very active worker in the different departments of the work until she was stricken down with disease more than a year ago. On July 1, 1874, she was married to Randolph Carris. Mr. and Mrs. Carris had no children of their own, but they raised an adopted daughter who is married and living in the northern part of the state. Mrs. Carris suffered intensely for a long time with an internal cancer which was the cause of her death on Saturday April 23. Funeral services were held at the home on Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. F. A. Gaupp. She was burried (sic) by the Rebekah's, of which order she was a faithful member. Whereas, In his infinite wisdom, the Omnipotent Ruler of Heaven and Earth has seen fit to remove from our midst by death, on April 23, 1910, one of our most esteemed members, sister Ina Carris, who was our D. D. President; therefore, be it Resolved, That Elk City Rebekah Lodge No. 88, I.O.O.F., extend to the bereaved family their most sincere sympathy and condolence in this, their hour of great bereavement: furthermore, be it Resolved, That as a token of the high esteem in which she was held by our members, that a copy of these resolutions be delivered to the family of our deceased sister; furthermore, that a copy be spread upon our minutes, and one sent to our local papers for publication.
