His father and step-mother, two brothers Luther and Ike and two sisters, Miss Iva and Mrs. Marvin Hill and one little niece Marveen, are left to mourn his death. His own dear mother died when he was a small child. He was stricken with stomach trouble a year ago, which was later pronounced a cancer. Everything was done that the skill of physicians or the sympathy and sacrifice of loved ones and friends could suggest or devise. Funeral services were held at the home, Rev. Fox of Sweetwater speaking words of comfort to the bereaved relatives and friends. In the death of William Carter the Rose Hill community has lost a good man. He was industrious, honest and faithful. He was so kind and tender to his step-mother. He told his friends that she had always been so good and kind to him. He had the love and respect of his neighbors, as was shown by the large number who called daily at the home during his illness, and who attended the funeral services. Interment was made in the Cheyenne Cemetery. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
