All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************ CHANCE, CHARLES (Oct 1929, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Charles Chance was born July 7, 1928 (sic) in Johnson County, Oklahoma. At the age of seven months he was stricken with spinal meningitis which left him in a deformed condition that remained through life. He was 31 years 3 months and 19 days old. He is survived by his mother and several brothers and sisters all of the Cheyenne community. Funeral services were held from the home near Cheyenne Sunday afternoon October 27, at 2 o'clock, Rev. Bernstein of Berlin officiated. Interment was in Cheyenne cemetery. Hullum funeral directors were in charge. (21 Nov 1929, Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, Roger Mills Co, OK): Mr. Charles Chance was born July 7, 1898. He departed from this life October 26, 1929, at 7:15, age 31 years, 3 months and 19 days. He had the spinal meningitis at the age of 7 months and was left an invalid. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones. He leaves to mourn his death, a mother, father, three brothers, all who are living; Tom Chance, Irvin Dawkins and Guy Dawkins; six sisters, four who are living, who are: Mrs. May Day, Mrs. Johnnie Sutton, Mrs. Alva Ward and Mrs. Edna Dodson all are present except Mrs. Day of Weleetka, Oklahoma. Rev. Klophenstein of Berlin officiated at the funeral and the Hullum funeral directors of Sayre were in charge. Burial was made in the Cheyenne cemetery. We know, although, our hearts are sore he is gone to bloom in a happier land where sickness and sorrow come no more, to sing with the happy angel band. CARD OF THANKS.
