CHILDRESS, RUFUS T.
(7 Oct 1920, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK):
RUFUS T. CHILDRESS DEAD.
After an illness of three years caused from a stroke of paralysis, Rufus
T. Childress of Foss, died at his home last Thursday afternoon.
Mr. Childress was at one time manager of the grocery department of Herring
& Young's store in Elk City.  About ten years ago he went to Foss where he
took the management of their store at that place.  He was a fine man, held
in highest esteem by all who knew him, and no one ever had aught against
him.  He was good and kind to his family.
The Herring & Young store here was closed during the funeral Friday, which
was held at Foss.  Interment was made at Fairlawn cemetery, Elk City.  A
large crowd of friends accompanied the remains to this city.  The deceased
leaves a wife and seven children to mourn his loss.
