(19 Aug 1908, Wednesday, Elk City Record, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Died. Don L. Clifft was born in Arkansas 42 years ago, came to this country with the first settlers and has resided at Colter, Custer county. Last Wednesday he went to Kansas City with a load of cattle, and returned Friday, on Saturday was riding out buying cattle though feeling poorly, Sunday he was taken suddenly with a severe attack of kidney trouble and died the same day. Funeral services were held at residence of J. S. Clifft where the deceased had made his home for years, after which the remains were taken to Butler for interment. Mr. Clifft served in the capacity of constable of his township and deputy sheriff. He leaves two brothers, J. S. of Colter and William of this city, and a host of friends to mourn the loss of one of most highly respected citizens who was always ready to help a friend in need.
