CLINE DIES IN INDIANA. Final Rites for Son of Elk City Couple to be Held Today. Alan Vandivier Cline, 5, son of Mr. and Mrs. Yandell C. Cline, of Elk City, died Saturday night at the home of Mrs. Cline's parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Vandivier, at Franklin, Indiana. Death was due to a noncontagious type of meningitis of which he had been ill for nearly five weeks. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Vandivier home with burial in the Greenlawn Cemetery at Franklin. The services were in charge of Dr. W. H. Books and Dr. Alexander Sharp, ministers of Columbus, Indiana. Alan was on a vacation trip with his mother and sister, Barbara Ann, at the time that he was taken ill. He was attended by three physicians, including an Indianapolis specialist, but little hope for his recovery was held from the first. A nurse, especially trained in the care of child patients, attended him. The youth moved to Elk City with his parents about a year ago when his father became publisher of The Daily News. He had been ill earlier in the summer but recovered although he was taken sick again soon after arriving in Indiana. In addition to his parents he is survived by the one sister, Barbara Ann. All are now in Franklin, Indiana. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
