COLLINS DIES IN STRAWN, TEX. Word was received here today of the death of C. C. Collins, of Strawn, Texas, son-in-law of Mrs. S. J. Martin, of this city. Mrs. Martin and daughter, Miss Margaret, and Mrs. J. C. McKenzie, of Carter, were called to the bedside of Mr. Collins a week ago and were there at the time of his death. Mr. Collins' death was caused from blood poisoning of the throat, and he had been ill for two weeks, reports received here said. Arrangements have not been made for the funeral here, awaiting the arrival of the body and the family from Texas. It is probable the service will be held in the Baptist church, Monday, members of the family here announced. (3 Dec 1929, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): COLLINS RITES ARE READ TODAY. Funeral services were held for Clurin (sic) C. Collins this afternoon at 3 o'clock in the First Baptist church, with Rev. H. W. Shirley, pastor, and Rev. E. C. Webb, pastor of the Broadway Methodist church, presiding. Mr. Collins died Friday at his home in Strawn, Texas, after an illness of two weeks, with blood poisoning of the throat. He was born May 19, 1900, in Cass county, Texas. He became a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, when seventeen years of age. He was married to Miss Jane Martin, daughter of Mrs. S. J. Martin, of this city, in Erick, in 1921. Mr. Collins leaves of his immediate family, his wife, Mrs. Collins, two sons, Bobby and Charles, and one sister, Mrs. Jerry Hurt, of San Antonio, Texas, and a grandmother, Mrs. R. B. Collins of Hughes Springs, Texas. Gentry-Killough, funeral directors, were in charge of arrangements. (5 Dec 1929, Thursday, Erick Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): RELATIVE OF W. O. HOOD DIES AT STRAWN, TEXAS. C. C. Collins, age 29, nephew of W. O. Hood, died at his home in Strawn, Texas, last Friday, following a short illness of tonsolitis (sic). Funeral services were held in Elk City, Monday of this week followed by burial in the local cemetery of that city. Mr. and Mrs. Hood attended the obsequies. Mrs. Gerry Hurst of San Antonia, Texas, arrived in Erick, Saturday to attend the funeral of her brother, C. C. Collins who was buried in Elk City, Monday. Mrs. Hurst was formerly Miss Collins. Her many friends extend to her their deepest sympathy in the loss of her brother. Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Hood, Felix Parrish, Miss Mamie Parrish and Mr. and Mrs. George Sewell were called to Strawn, Texas, Friday on account of the death of C. C.
