For twenty-six years she had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Wheeler, added to her long life was a happy married life of 61 years. She was a member of the Baptist church at the time of her death and lived a consecrated Christian life. Five children are still living: Joseph Collins of Wichita Falls, Texas; James Collins of Vernon, Texas; Mrs. Delia Morraw of Walters, Okla.; Wm. Collins of Stonewall, Okla.; and Mrs. Wm. Wheeler of Elk City. Mrs. Collins for the past year, longed to be with her Lord, and prayed to be called home to Him. Her faith in her Savior strengthened her to her last hours. For over a score of years, the solicitous care of brother and sister Wheeler and their family made the last years of sister Collin's life very happy ones. We cannot help thinking of the words of the sweet singer of Israel, "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of one of his Saints." There must have been great rejoicing up yonder when so faithful a laborer ended the work of the life's day. "And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come with singing into Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; and they shall obtain gladness and joy and sorrow and sighing shall flee away." "And all the women who were wise hearted did spin with their hands and brought that which they had spun, both of blue and of purple and of scarlet, and of fine linen." Sister Collins, wove a beautiful garment of life to be presented to her Master. The sympathy and prayers of the pastor and members of the Methodist Church, South, go out to the family and friends who mourn the passing on before of one of His children. CARD OF THANKS. We take this opportunity of expressing our heartfelt thanks to our many friends who so tenderly assisted us in our bereavement in the recent illness and death of our beloved mother, also to the kind friends who sent such nice flowers. We feel assured that everything was done that mortal hands could and we have the assurance that she has gone to that House not made with hands, eternal and in the Heavens. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Wheeler and children. Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Collins and children. Jimmie Collins and children. Mr. and Mrs. Seborn Marrow and daughter. Mrs. Minis Thompson and daughter. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
