J. CONLEY. The remains of H. J. Conley of Hammon, who died at Clinton, Okla., on Wednesday, February 16th, was brought to Elk City last Sunday, and funeral services were held at the Baptist church. On account of the weather, they did not take the body to Hammon to have funeral services as planned, so a large crowd from that place came down on the train, and a number of the members of the Masonic Order came down in autos. After the opening services conducted by the Masonic members, Rev. Trent, of the Baptist church made an address, paying a great tribute to the life of Mr. Conley. Mr. Conley underwent an operation for appendicitis at Clinton on the 13th, but lived only three days. He was one of the old pioneers of this part of Oklahoma. He came here twenty-one years ago, locating on a farm two and one-half miles north of Elk City. He moved to Hammon and for a number of years was in the mercantile business. He was married eleven years ago to Mrs. Eva Savage, who survives, living in Hammon. He had three children by a previous marriage; Vance Conley of Colorado, Mrs. Anna Billeu, of New Mexico, and Mrs. Chas. Phelps of near Elk City. The interment was in charge of Grubitz & Son, and the body laid to rest in a private cemetery on his farm near Elk City. Among those who came from Hammon to attend the funeral were A. E. Williams, John Lewis, Tom Briggs, P. E. Baldwin, A. G. Gowen, W. F. Gowen, W. F. Crane, Arthur Creach, Esta McFarland, M. Jernagan, E. Smith, Mr. Vosburg, Sidney Shults, J. A. Dugger, Wm.
