W. CONNER Ella Halferty was born in Clinton county, Missouri, December 24, 1859 and departed this life, January 22, 1923, being 64 years and 28 days old. She was united in the hold bonds of matrimony to Thomas Duncan in 1878; to this union five daughters were born, four of which have preceded her to the Great Beyond leaving only one, Mrs. Lela Halda of Kansas City, Missouri, who was with her mother during her last hours. After the death of her husband, Mr. Duncan, she came to Oklahoma in 1903 and in 1904 was married to H. W. Conner of the Pixlee neighborhood, who mourns the loss of his companion. Mrs. Conner had suffered more or less for several years, but never complained at her lot. She was a talented and energetic woman, always taking interest in local affairs and at the time of her death, was serving as school director, also a correspondent for the News Democrat and above all she knew how to keep a home and how to cook. The deceased was a believer in the Christian religion, being a member of the Baptist church, always letting her light shine daily by doing good deeds and returning good for evil. Her life is one long to be remembered by those who knew her. While she is gone, we are sure that the world was made better and richer by her having lived in it. The remains of Mrs. Connor were shipped to Kansas City, Mo. for interment being accompanied by her daughter, Mrs. Lela Halda and grand-daughter, Miss Ruth Carpenter. Besides her husband and only daughter she leaves to mourn her loss, two sisters, Mrs. Cora Jones of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Ada Newmas of Freeman, Mo., also a brother, Stoney Halferty of Liberty, Mo., and a number of grandchildren.
