(17 Jan 1930, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): CONOVER DIES IN HOME HERE. C. H. Conover, pioneer settler in this community, died suddenly in his home here this morning following a heart attack. Mr. Conover apparently seemed to be in good health this morning when he went outside to feed the chickens. When he returned he complained of being short of breath and died shortly afterward. Mr. Conover was well known in this community, having settled six miles southwest of this city 25 years ago. He was born in Havanna, Ill., November 23, 1860, where he was reared and married. He became a member of the First Presbyterian church when a young man. Twelve years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Conover sold their farm and have lived in Elk City, since that time. Surviving Mr. Conover are his widow, Mrs. Conover and seven children, two of whom reside in this city. They are Mrs. H. C. Gibbons and W. H. Conover. Other children are Mrs. Gertie Clark, of Holyoak, Colo., Mrs. I. L. Clark, of Stella, Nebr., Charles Conover of Los Angeles, Calif., John Conover of Trenton, Nebr., and Clyde Conover of Schubert, Nebraska. Funeral arrangements have not been made, a member of the family said at noon today, awaiting word from relative.
