G. C. CONWAY DEAD. The above heading expresses an untruth in this case, but it is the common way of expressing the passing of one of our loved ones from this earth. On last Thursday evening Brother and Father G. C. Conway passed from a state of suffering into the peaceful rest of the home of the soul. For some days he had felt that the old tree of seventy was bending low toward the earth, and soon it must fall from whence it came. "As a tree falleth, so must it lie." It can be truly said that in the passing of this man from the walks of men, that indeed a great man has fallen in Israel. He, like John, was one of the meekest and most humble of God's family - unassuming, desiring not to make a show in the flesh; yet he was one of the greatest. He did not seek the high places in life, but was content like his Master, who said, "As I have been sent into this world, even so I send you." Jesus went about doing good - and so this man emulated his Lord. To him came the greatest and highest calling given to men, which is to preach the gospel of the glorious Savior. For over twenty-five years this good man gave to the world the story of his loving Savior. He leaves to mourn his loss two sons and daughters and several grandchildren. His children were ever kind to his wants and wishes, until at last they laid him to rest at Cheyenne, Okla. Rev. W. R. Trint of Hammon preached the funeral. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
