(29 Jul 1920, Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, Roger Mills Co, OK): We are indeed sorry to chronicle the sad news of the death of Mrs. J. W. Cooper who died in Elk City Wednesday, July 20, 1920, after an illness which had been coming on for years and which had been serious for about a year. Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church in Cheyenne Thursday afternoon in the presence of a large number of friends from the town and country who had gathered to pay their last respects to a friend and neighbor. The body was laid to rest in the Cheyenne cemetery. Mrs. Cooper had lived in this county for many years and had a host of friends. She was a woman against whom naught could be said. The vacancy left by her cannot be filled but her last days were so filled with suffering that none could wish her back to her life of suffering. She leaves her husband and one daughter, Mrs. Leslie Barton, to mourn her loss. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
