Friends were grieved and saddened to hear of the death of Mrs. Cox, formerly Volina Grissom. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Grissom and was born Nov. 7, 1909 and died August 14, 1928, at her home in Elk City, after a desperate struggle to live. She bore it all with a smile unto the end. She professed religion at the age of 12 years and joined the Methodist church and lived a sweet religious life. She received her high school education in Elk City and Strong City, and her sweet personality won her friends wherever she went, and her sweet smiling face will be missed by dear ones. She was married to Gerome Cox May 21, 1927, and besides the husband, she leaves to mourn her departure, her father, mother, two brothers, P. D. and Joe Grissom, of Elk City, and a host of other relatives and friends. Emma Delois died with her and was buried clasped in the arms of the mother who paid so dearly a sacrifice. The funeral was held at the Broadway Methodist church Wednesday afternoon. Rev. A. P. Cummins of the North Methodist church officiated. Grubitz and Son had charge of funeral arrangements and interment was made in Fairlawn cemetery. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
