All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************ CRABTREE, ELVIRA (24 Jan 1929, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Funeral services will be held January 25 for Mrs. Elvira Crabtree at the First Christian church in Elk City. Mrs. Crabtree died January 24, 1929, at the age of 83 years, 2 months and 10 days. Interment will be made at Fairlawn cemetery. Gentry-Killough, funeral directors, will be in charge of arrangements. Rev. Carl Covey will officiate at the funeral. (31 Jan 1929, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Elvira Hooper was born in the state of Tennessee on November 14, 1845, and departed this life in Elk City, Oklahoma, at the home of her son, Sam Crabtree, at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 24, 1929, being 83 years, 2 months and 10 days of age. She was united in marriage with Isaac Crabtree in Cedar County, Missouri, on June 7, 1869. To this union eight children were born, five sons and three daughters. One son passed away in infancy and one daughter preceded her mother in death some years ago. The family has lived in Oklahoma for more than 30 years and have been near Elk City for 21 years. Besides her husband, the deceased leaves the following named sons and daughters: William Crabtree, Stockton, Mo.; M. M. Crabtree, Marshfield, Ore.; Sam Crabtree, Elk City, Okla.; Mrs. J. H. Aldridge of Oklahoma City; Walter Crabtree of Elk City; Mrs. F. L. Hale of Kingfisher, Okla. All of her children were present at the time of her death. The deceased also leaves one sister, Mrs. Jane Hall of Stockton, Mo. 23 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Mrs. Crabtree, together with her husband, united with the Christian church nearly a half century ago and has continued faithfully in the christian life through all these years. Mrs. Crabtree has been a consecrated and devoted Christian wife and mother. She was known and loved by a host of neighbors and friends in this and other states where she has lived. Funeral services were conducted at the First Christian church of Elk City with the pastor, Carl V. Covey, in charge.
