Funeral arrangements were in charge of Chandler & Robinson. (30 Mar 1916, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): MRS. JUDITH R. CRANE Judith R. Jones was born in Fleming county, Kentucky, in the year 1843. She lived there until she was eleven years of age, when she moved with her father and family to Texas, where she grew to womanhood. She was married to J. E. M. Crane in 1865. She was the mother of ten children. Two died in infancy, and one daughter four years ago. Four daughters, three sons, a number of grandchildren and one brother survive her. She was converted at the age of thirteen years and joined the Missionary Baptist church, of which she was a consistent member until her death. She was a devoted wife, and a kind and affectionate mother. She went to rest after a long and lingering illness of eleven months duration. She never murmured, although she was never free from pain, and quietly passed away at the home of her oldest daughter, Mrs. Middleton, on the morning of March 21st. The body was laid to rest in the Ural cemetery by the side of her husband, who had preceded her death twelve years. A large concourse of friends and relatives followed the remains to the last resting place; where Rev. J. B. Conley officiated, speaking kind words of hope, love and sympathy to the sorrowing ones; and a word of warning to those who are not prepared to meet their God. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
