H. Creason, 65, a resident of Roger Mills county for more than a quarter of a century and a resident of Elk City for four years, were held Monday afternoon at the Broadway Methodist Episcopal church, with Rev. Webb officiating in the final ceremony. Mrs. Creason died at 8:30 o'clock Sunday evening following a major operation which she underwent five days previous to her death. Mr. and Mrs. Creason moved to Elk City four years ago. They had previously lived on their homestead four miles west of Berlin since 1899 when they homesteaded. Mrs. Creason was born in Fairfield, Iowa, April 26, 1865. She was a member of the Methodist church for 41 years, being active in church work until her health failed. She was married to O. H. Creason, January 3, 1884, and moved soon afterward to Purcell, later settling near Berlin. Immediate members of the family surviving Mrs. Creason are her husband and six children, four daughters and two sons. They are: Mrs. John Riggs, of Sayre; Mrs. Dulcie Bates, Mrs. George Givins, and Miss Vivian Creason of this city and Luther Creason of Sasakwa, and Paul Creason of Elk City. Burial was made in the Berlin cemetery with Killough-Hullum, funeral directors in charge. Relatives who attended the funeral are: a sister, Mrs. L. C. Walker of Sedan, Kansas; a brother, Willie Klopfenstein of Berlin; and a niece, Mrs. Earl Allsup of Oklahoma City. Mrs. Creason was a familiar person with Cheyenne folks having been coming to Cheyenne twice each week with her husband in the service of the Harry Hunter Laundry of Elk City. Her passing will be regretted by Cheyenne friends. Mrs. Creason was one of the active ones in keeping alive the Old Settlers organization of the Berlin community and was quite enthusiastic in arranging for the last celebration, June 5, 1930. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
