S. CRISWELL CALLED IN DEATH YESTERDAY. The Death Angel bore away last evening at 8 o'clock one of Woodward's most beloved citizens, James Singleton Criswell, who with his wife, has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. C. W. Tedrowe and family for the past several years. Slowly the spark of life has been waning, and many times the patient sufferer has prayed that the end might come, for his life had been such that he did not fear death, and death came without a struggle, the breath coming more shortly until he fell asleep in the arms of Jesus. Mr. Criswell was one of the good men of Woodward whom to know was to love, for his was a nature of love. Those who have visited the Tedrowe home know how well he loved the outdoor life where he could come closely in contact with nature, for no one in Woodward could display a more beautiful garden of flowers than he. It was his life in the summer time. Mr. Criswell was born in Adair county, Missouri, November 19, 1842, being at the time of his death 82 years, four months and 28 days of age. He is survived by his loving wife who has remained constantly at his side during his continued illness, and by the following children: C. E. Criswell, Bonnyman, Ky.; Mrs. C. W. Tedrowe, Woodward, Okla.; Mrs. D. L. Dennis, San Antonio, Texas; all of whom were with him during his last hours upon earth. The funeral service will be conducted from the home of Dr. C. W. Tedrowe Sunday at 3 p.m. and interment will be made in Elmwood cemetery. Rev. C. A. Lowe of the Christian church will preach the sermon and special music is being arranged.
