Dallas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. M. Dallas, died at the home of his parents last Thursday afternoon, March 16, 1916, after a short illness of congestion of the brain. The entire community was grieved because of the passing away of this noble young man, and everything was done to show their deep sympathy to the bereaved ones. Joel was born near Ural, Okla., on February 16th, 1899, and attained the age of seventeen years and one month. Just in the prime of young manhood, when the future looked so bright to him and when his parents were leaning upon him because of his splendid life and excellent character, he was taken from them. How hard it is to give up our loved ones when so much is promised in the future for them, but we can only say "Thy will be done" and know that He doeth all thing(s) well. Heaven only seems nearer and dearer and we can have the joy and peace in our sorrow to know that we have the hope of meeting our loved ones again. Funeral services were held at the Ural church on March 17th, at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. I. F. Harmon. School was dismissed, so the scholars could attend in a body. They formed a double line at the church, and the casket was carried through the line by the pall bearers, who were his classmates, Warren Kimball, Cleo Walter, Fred Redman, Robert Strawn, Clarence Caffee and Leonard Reynolds. A large crowd of sympathizing friends followed, being one of the largest funerals ever held in that community, which attested to the great respect they had for Joel and his family. Joel was a good industrious boy and no one had more friends. He was loved by everyone, and he will be greatly missed at home and in the community. Deceased leaves a father, mother, three brothers and five sisters and a host of relatives, who have the sympathy of all in this sad hour.
