DAVIS, EMMA (MARY E.)
(6 Sep 1911, Wednesday, Elk City Record, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK):
Emma Allen was born in Smith's Grove, Ky., in 1872(sic), was married to W.
E. Davis in 1885, moved to Western Kansas, lived there for several years,
then moved to Wellington, Kansas, and lived there two years before moving
to Elk City eight or ten years ago.  She lived here until last January,
when the family moved to Oklahoma City.  Before going to the City, she
took sick and her case soon developed into consumption.  Last June the
family went to Clovis, New Mexico, hoping that the mountain air would
benefit her health, but she grew weaker until death came to her relief
Sunday morning.
She leaves a husband; two sons, Ed, who is in Clovis, and Claude, who is
enlisted in the U. S. Army; five daughters, Mrs. Martindale of Carter,
Mrs. Alf Moon, of Elk City, Misses Nina, Mabel and Corine.  J. C. and W.
E. Allen, of this city, are brothers.
Funeral services were held in Clovis, and the body laid to rest there.
J. C. Allen attended the funeral of his sister, and will stay in the
mountains a few weeks.
Mrs. Davis had been a member of the Presbyterian Church since childhood,
and lived a consecrated Christian life.

Mrs. W. E. Davis, mother of Mrs. M. Martindale, died at Clovis, N. M.
Sunday morning.  She had gone there for her health, having been suffering
with Consumption for several months.  The remains were entered (sic) at
the Clovis Cemetery Monday of this week.  The many friends of Mrs.
Martindale sympathize with her in the loss of her dear mother.
