Roy and Homer Deal were called to their parents home north of Clinton, last week because of the illness of their mother. She passed away Sunday morning. Supt. Steel and several teachers went over to attend the funeral but arrived at the home too late. An obituary will be found elsewhere. DEATH OF MRS. E. F. DEAL Mary Ellen Berry was born at Missoun Valley, Iowa, August 5th, 1871, and died at her home north of Clinton, Okla., Sunday morning at 3 o'clock A.M., December 16, 1923 at the age of 52 years, 4 months and 11 days. She was married to E. F. Deal, December 5, 1891. To this union were born five children, three of whom are living. The first born, a boy, died at the age of two and a half years. The second, the only girl, now Mrs. S. B. Porter, is living at the father's home near Clinton, where she has been tenderly caring for her mother for the past three months. The third child, Roy B. Deal is teacher of Science and athletics in Elk City High School. The fourth child died in infancy. The youngest, Homer L. Deal, is here living with his brother taking his senior work in our High school. Mrs. Deal who had been bed fast, or nearly so, for over five months, passed very quietly away after what appeared to be a quiet continuous prayer. This fact, coupled with the remembrance that she was always faithful, loyal and especially desirous that her children do the right thing at all times, helps console those who were forced to be separated from their mother so early in life. She had been a member of the Baptist church, since 1903. It is said that sickness is the only thing that ever caused her to miss a meeting at her church. The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of the many friends. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
