Former Bethany Woman Passed Away in Wichita, Kansas. Bethany relatives and friends were saddened last Saturday morning when it was learned that Mrs. Grace Blackburn Derry formerly of this city, has passed away Friday night, April 17, in Wichita, Kan., after a short illness. Her sister, Mrs. Robt. H. Dunn, received a message Friday morning that Grace was seriously sick and hastened to her bedside but did not reach Wichita until several hours after her death. Mr. and Mrs. Derry had been in Wichita a few months, where they had a business, but their home for many years has been in El Reno, Okla. Mrs. Derry had not been well for several years but her condition was not considered so serious until just a few hours before her death. The body, accompanied by her husband, A. L. Derry, sister, Mrs. R. H. Dunn, and brother, W. L. Blackburn of Elk City, Okla., a niece, Mrs. Madge Kelley of St. Joseph, arrived in Bethany Monday noon. Another sister, Mrs. Joe Prentiss of St. Joseph, arrived in Bethany Saturday morning. Funeral services were conducted at the home of R. H. Dunn Sunday afternoon at 2:30 by Rev. Clyde S. Sherman of the Christian church. Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Mrs. J. G. Hinkle, S. M. Haas, Mrs. W. M. Planck and A. G. Crane, with Mrs. Wm. Hampton at the piano. Burial in Miriam cemetery. Grace Blackburn Derry, youngest daughter of Dr. and Mrs. C. J. Blackburn, was born in Bethany, April 16, 1872, and passed away Friday, April 17, 1925, in Wichita, Kan. at the age of 53 years and 1 day. She was an active worker of the First Christian church in El Reno, Okla. and a tireless worker in the business world. She and her husband had conducted several very successful business enterprises and much credit of the success was due to her ingenuity and personality. Besides the husband, brother and sisters mentioned, she is survived by two adopted sons (twins), who were taken in the home when very young and were given love and care that she would have given her own. - Bethany (Mo.)
