(10 May 1911, Wednesday, Elk City Record, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): W. W. Duke Dead Uncle Billie Duke died at his home near Cheyenne, Monday night. He had been in Elk City for several weeks sick, but last week his condition was so much improved that he went out home Sunday he drove around over the farm. Monday he was taken suddenly ill, which turned into convulsions, and he died in a short time. The body was taken back to Jacksborough (sic), Texas, for burial, Wednesday. Mr. Duke leaves a wife and four children: T. J. of near Cheyenne, Stonie of Elk City, Mrs. Henry Hensley of Jacksborough, Texas, and Miss Angie who was with him at his death, were present at the funeral. Mr. Duke owned a large tract of very fine land in Roger Mills County. He had lived there for more than twenty years. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church at 3:30 after which the remains were sent to Jacksborough, Texas for burial.
