(2 Feb 1928, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Lois Julia Martin-Dunlop, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Martin, was born March 15, 1898, on a farm near Walnut Springs, Bosque county, Texas. When just eight months old her parents moved to Oklahoma and resided north of Weatherford for two years and then moved north of Sayre, the 16th of January 1901. Here Lois grew to womanhood and came to know all the joys and hardships of pioneer life; she attended school at the district school, Short Creek, until fourteen years of age and passed the eighth grade. She then attended school at Sayre and Mangum, one year each, and then finished at Weatherford, the Southwestern Teachers' Normal, specializing in commercial work. She was married to Roy F. Dunlop September 11, 1919, and to their happy union was born one daughter, Margaret Eloise, now five years old. Mrs. Dunlop was converted in September, 1920, and joined the Christian church at Pampa, Texas, where her church home remained until the end came. During the married life of Mr. and Mrs. Dunlop they were not settled long in any one place, Mr. Dunlop was a salesman and his wife and little daughter accompanied him over a large portion of Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas. For more than three years she suffered without making it known to the family. In July 1926 she was operated on and it seemed for a time was completely well, but the old malady was fastening its roots deeper for a last and final attack and for the last four months of her life on earth, she fought patiently the battle of death. During all her sickness, up to the last moment, she never murmured or complained, but smiled through it all. The Angel of death came and kissed her beautiful and resigned spirit away January the 11th, 1928. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist church, Elk City, in the presence of a host of relatives and friends, Rev. Sears of Sayre, and pastor H. W. Shirley in charge.
