Marie attended school at Erick before graduating from Lincoln High School in Elk City. She remained in Elk City for 14 years before moving to Erick in 1972 to make her home. Marie married John Lawrence GISON on December 7, 1996 in Texola. She was a faithful member of the New Bethlehem Baptist Church in Texola, OK for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 daughter, Freda, 2 sons, Fred and Jeffery, 2 sisters and 7 brothers. She is survived by her husband, John, of the home; 3 daughters, Linda WATKINS of Elk City, OK, Ophelia CARTER of Burns Flat, OK and Sandra PHILLIPS of Oklahoma City, OK, 4 sons, Joseph PHILLIPS of McAlester, OK, Willie EVANS of Oklahoma City, OK, Marvin PHILLIPS of Oklahoma City, OK and Terril DARNELL of Ft. Knox, KY, 1 sister, Dorethea SHERIDAN of Elk City, OK, 3 brothers, Cornelius EVANS, Willie EVANS and Bennie EVANS, all of Elk City, OK, 17 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 6 stepdaughters, Glenda SPRATT of Okemah, OK, Helen THOMAS of Oklahoma City, OK, Mariann of Boley, OK, Barbara Ann and Fayrene, both of Oklahoma City, OK, Sharlotte of Minnesota, 2 stepsons, James GIBSON of Minnesota and Bily Ray GIBSON of Wichita, KS as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Burial at Evergreen Cemetery
