(31 May 1917, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): DEATH OF MRS. T. C. FANSHIER. After an illness of six week(s), Mrs. T. C. Fanshier passed away at the Wichita hospital last Saturday evening. The husband and the mother, Mrs. J. A. Garrett, who were there at the time of her death, brought the remains to Elk City, arriving here at noon Monday. Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ, where many friends and relatives listened to the comforting words spoken by Rev. Jernigan. Florence B. Garrett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Garrett, was born November 10, 1896, in Kimball Co., Texas, where the family lived until she was two years of age, then moved to Stillwater. Three years later they came to Elk City, where she grew to womanhood. June 20, 1913, she was married to T. C. Fanshier. To this union two children were born. At the time of the death the family were living at Eldorado, Kansas. Mrs. Fanshier was converted and joined the Methodist Church South about five years ago and since that time has lived a consecrated christian life. She had that abiding faith in Christ and the hope of Eternal life. To the husband, children, parents, sisters and brothers, who are left to mourn her loss, our hearts go out in sorrow and sympathy. May He who rules above and doeth all things well, guide, protect and sustain them in their great loss. May they resolve that their pathways shall lead them to the land of "Eternal Life." The remains were laid to rest in East Fairlawn, funeral arrangements in charge of Chandler & Robinson. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
