FINCH DIES. The following from the El Reno American. Mr. Finch's parents came from our old home, Bethany, Mo., twenty-two years ago and lived on a claim north of Grimes. Walter J. Finch, prominent local business man passed away in a Guthrie hospital on Thursday, June 28. Funeral services were held from the Presbyterian church on Saturday afternoon, June 30, at three o'clock, with the Reverend G. A. Swanson officiating. Following the ceremonies at the church the body was conducted to El Reno cemetery by members of the Knights Templar while members of the El Reno Blue Lodge of the Masonic order had charge of the services at the grave. Mr. Finch at the time of his death was a member of the real estate firm of Finch and Meadows, vice-president of the Citizens National Bank of El Reno, and vice-president of the Bank of Gotebo. He was a member of the El Reno chapter of the B.P.O.E. and was active in Masonic circles. Pall bearers included A. T. March, K. E. Humphrey, T. H. Ellison, J. C. Potree, G. W. Lewis and L. Babcock. Mr. Finch is survived in El Reno by his wife, Mrs. Leona Finch, with whom he was united in marriage in 1901 at Princeton, Maryland, and a daughter, Miss Louise Finch. Relatives who attended the funeral were his mother Mrs. Margaret Finch of Oklahoma City, two sisters, Mrs. Teresa Childs and Mrs. C. W. Friends of Memphis, Tennessee; three brothers, Ned Finch of Oklahoma City, Charles B. Finch of Gotbo (Gotebo), and Ives Finch of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; and Mrs. Ives Finch, also of Cheyenne, Okla.; Mrs. Walter Hammond and Miss Violet Graham of Weleetka, Oklahoma; and Mr. Carol McCullough of Tulsa, also attended. Mr. Finch was 45 years old at the time of his death. He was a member of the El Reno Chamber of Commerce, the Lion's club, the El Reno Country Club and was very active in the social and civic work of the community. He first came to El Reno in 1898 and became identified in insurance and real estate work which he has continued until the time of his death. He was born in Garner, Iowa, on July 2, 1878.
