(26 Sep 1930, Friday, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): PIONEER COUNTY RESIDENT DIES. Mrs. John P. Fritch Succumbs in Norman After Long Illness. Word was received here today from Norman of the death of Mrs. John P. Fritch, a former resident of Beckham County, who lived at Carter for 22 years. Mrs. Fritch is a sister of Mrs. Charles Fritch, of this city, and a sister of Mrs. Odie Yarbough, of Canute. Mr. and Mrs. Fritch and family moved to Norman from Carter three years ago to enter three daughters in the state university. Mrs. Fritch has been ill for the past year. Although no hopes for her recovery were held, her death was unexpected at this time. She died this morning at 5:30 o'clock. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at the McFarlin Memorial Methodist Church, in Norman. It is not known by relatives where interment will be held. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fritch and Mrs. Yarbough will go to Norman late today or early Saturday. Mrs. Fritch was born April 3, 1885, at Lannius, Texas. When a young lady she moved to Elk City with her parents and was married to Mr. Fritch in 1905 and established a home at Carter. Immediate members of the family surviving Mrs. Fritch are her husband, Mr. Fritch, and seven children. They are: Misses Odelia, Faye, Ruth, Hazel and Glen, John, Jr., and Guy Roland. Fritch, formerly of Carter and well known there, died at Norman Friday morning after an illness of more than a year, according to information received, Saturday. The family had lived in Carter for 22 years prior to moving to Norman. The funeral services were held at the McFarlin Memorial church, Norman, Saturday afternoon. Immediate members of the family surviving Mrs. Fritch are her husband, Mr. Fritch, and seven children.
