All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************ GASS, JULIA (The Elk City Daily News, Elk City, Beckham Co, Ok, 22 April 1945) Mrs. Julia Gass, 75, Hammon, Oklahoma, died Friday, April 20, 1945, at the home of her daughter Mrs. W. M. Lawson there after eleven weeks illness. She was born in Orange County, Indiana, September 19, 1870, and was married on August 2, 1889 to J. R. Gass, in that state, who preceded her in death some twenty-two years ago at Clinton, Oklahoma. The couple came to Custer County in 1907 and Mrs. Gass had been a resident there ever since. Mrs. Gass was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include: Mrs. Arthur Creach, Mrs. W. M. Lawson, Rollie E. Gass and Mrs. Ray Curtis, all of Hammon; Mrs. Taylor Green, Elk City; Mrs. John Bynum, Joplin, Mo.; Dasco Gass, Wheatland, Okla.; Mrs. Lean Danner, California; Mrs. Kate Flick, Indiana; Mrs. Luzena Danner, Bloomington, Ind.; and Clinton Owens, Iroquois, Ill. Twenty-three grandchildren and nine great grandchildren also survive. Two grandchildren have preceded her in death. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon, April 22, 1945, at 2:30 o'clock from the Church of Christ, Hammon, Albert Trent, Sentinel and Willie Trent, Hammon, ministers, officiating, with interment in Red Hill cemetery.
