B. Gibbons, was born in Elk City, October 24th, 1906, and has lived for the past few years southwest of this city. She has not been in good health for some time and when she took ill with influenza she was sick but a short time until the end came, October 23rd, 1918, just the day before her twelfth birthday. Funeral services were held last Friday afternoon at the grave in the Fairlawn cemetery, by Rev. W. A. Posey, assisted by Rev. M. T. Allen. Sweet songs were sung by members of the choir, who had been present at Mrs. Van Auken's funeral. The father and little brother were unable to be present because of illness, and the mother's grief touched the hearts of all. Kind friends offered sympathy and help and did all they could in this sad trial. Everyone who knew Gladys speak so well of her sweet disposition, and everyone loved her so. She was a grand-daughter of Mrs. C. H. Conover. We desire to express our heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved ones in this time of great sorrow, and commend them to the loving Heavenly Father, who doeth all things well. ---------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
