GLANCY Born at Mount Vernon, Ohio, February 20, 1842, died at Canute, Okla., January 6, 1919, age 76 years 10 months and 16 days. Lived in Knox County, Ohio until he was forty years old, from there he moved to Adair County, Iowa, where he lived 17 years moving from there to Oklahoma, where he spent the last days of his life. Brother Glancy was converted early in life and with his wife joined the Congregational Church and during his early life he was known as a devout Sunday School worker and observer of family worship and other means of grace which so many today neglect. At the age of twenty-two years he was married to Miss Margaret Simons. To them were born six children, five of whom with his wife survive him. D. E., W. A., and L. A. Glancy all of Canute, Okla., Mrs. Flora Thorne of Winfield, Kansas and Mrs. O. P. Leach of Sunnyside, Washington. At the age of fifty-five years he met with an accident which caused the loss of his left arm. Brother Glancy suffered a great deal during the last years of his life from cancer of the stomach which finally caused his death. Having visited and prayed with him on several occasions during his last illness, I found him often engaged in prayer and fully trusting in the efficiency of the blood which was shed for his Redemption. "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord." Rev. W. E. McWilliams. ---------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
