(Mar 1916, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): George Goehring was born in the state of Whittenberg, Germany, March 27th, 1861. When twenty-four years of age he came to America. He left a mother who was ill, though it was not thought she was dangerous. He never saw her again, for she passed away six months later and it was always a grief to him to think he could not be with her to the last. Mr. Goehring was an '89er, coming to Oklahoma City in that great year. On January 21st, 1891 he was married to Miss Lizzie Hauck, at Oklahoma City. Ten children were born of this union, seven boys and three girls. Two daughters preceeded him to the better land. The remains were laid to rest in beautiful Fairlawn Cemetery. Many beautiful floral offerings were sent to the bereaved family, which covered his last resting place. The deep sympathy of the entire community is extended to Mrs. Goehring and family. ---------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
