Goodwin was born in Wisconsin, May 24, 1853, died at Elk City April 2, 1929, age 75 years, 10 months and 6 days. Funeral services were held in the school auditorium at Durham, Okla., at 2:30 p.m., Rev. Carl V. Covey, officiating. Interment in Durham cemetery. Gentry-Killough in charge. Obituary. John Albert Goodwin was born May 24, 1853, at Plattsville, Wisconsin and departed this life at his home in Elk City, Oklahoma, April 2, 1929, at the age of 75 years, 10 months and 6 days. Mr. Goodwin was married to Miss Laura A. Hughs, December 2, 1891. To this union four children were born: Walter A. of San Antonio, Texas; Mrs. Lily Mae Butler of Rankin, Oklahoma; Robert L. of Durham and J. A. Goodwin, Jr., of Elk City, Oklahoma. The wife, four children, ten grandchildren and one brother, W. E. Goodwin of Herndston, Oregon, survive. Mr. Goodwin became a Christian in March, 1913, and joined the Broadway Baptist church of Fort Worth, Texas. His passing is the only death which has occurred in this family throughout their thirty-eight years of married life. Funeral services were conducted in the school auditorium at Durham, Oklahoma, with Rev. Carl V. Covey, minister of the First Christian Church of Elk City, Oklahoma, officiating.
