All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************ GRETEMAN, ED (22 Mar 1928, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Ed Grateman (sic) died at his home in Elk City March 20, 1928, at the age of 81 years. Funeral services were held at the Shiedel church Friday, March 23, at 10 a.m. Burial in St. Francis cemetery. George R. Grubitz & Son in charge. (29 Mar 1928, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Ed. Greteman died at the home of his son, Tony Greteman, near Elk City, March 20th, 1928, aged 81 years, 9 months, and 26 days. Mr. Greteman was born in Germany, coming to the United States with his father when 7 years of age. At the age of 23 years, he was married to Elizabeth Cluster at St. Lucas, Iowa. Several years were spent at Carroll, Iowa, after which they came to Schiedel, Okla., in 1902, where he lived until nine months ago, when he came to make his home with his son. Mr. Greteman was the father of ten children, all of whom survive him except one. Those surviving are: Mrs. Mary Hoffman of Carroll, Iowa; Mrs. Annie Hansman of Carroll, Iowa; John, Edward, Barney and Frank Greteman and Mrs. Francis Spitz of Schiedel, Okla.; Henry Greteman of Beardsley, Minn., and Tony Greteman of Elk City. His good wife died several years ago, also a daughter, Mrs. Katie Simons. All the children were here for the funeral except Henry and Mrs. Hansman. Mr. Hansman coming for the funeral. Mr. Greteman was a faithful member of the Catholic church and was held in high esteem wherever he was known. Services were held here by Rev. Father Geeraert and the remains taken to Schiedel, Oklahoma, for interment.
