(4 May 1916, Elk City Leader, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Mrs. Mollie E. Grimes Died Last Wednesday. Mrs. Mollie E. Grimes, for many years a resident of Elk City, died at the home here last Wednesday after an illness of more than seven years. Funeral services were conducted at the M. E. Church South Thursday afternoon by Dr. J. J. Shaw, the pastor, after which interment was had in the local cemetery. Mrs. Grimes was seventy years old, being born August 16, 1845. She suffered a stroke of paralysis seven years ago, from which she never recovered. She is survived by her husband and a number of relatives in this section. Funeral arrangements were in charge of Chandler & Robinson. (4 May 1916, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Mrs. Mollie E. Grimes, nee Wall, was born in the State of Georgia, August 16, 1845. She was happily converted at the age of eighteen years. She was first married to James Kendicks. To this union were born four children. The husband and three children preceeded her years ago, and only one daughter, Mrs. C. W. Grissom surviving. She was married the second time to E. J. Grimes, Feb. 20, 1896, with whom she lived until the day of her death, which occurred April 26, 1916, age 70 years, 8 months and 10 days. She leaves an aged companion, one daughter, grandchildren, sisters and brothers and many friends. Mrs. Grimes was a strong healthy woman until about eight years ago, when she had a stroke of paralysis from which she never recovered, but was a helpless invalid the remainder of her days on earth. She suffered greatly, and often remarked that she did not understand why she had to stay and suffer so. She was anxious and ready to go. Funeral services were held at the M. E. Church South on Thursday afternoon, after which interment was made at the Fairlawn cemetery. A brother, W. T.
