Cora Blanche, little daughter of I. S. and M. E. Hampton of Port, in Washita County, Oklahoma, on the 18th of January 1906. Born June 7th, 1903, making her stay on earth, two years, seven months, and eleven days. She was the only daughter of her parents and it was hard to give her up. She left a father, mother and three little brothers to mourn their loss, but their loss is her gain although it was hard to give her up. Jesus said "Suffer little children to come unto me for of such is the kingdom of Heaven." A little flower plucked from earth to bloom in heaven, it is done with the trials and troubles of earth and is gone to live and reign with Jesus forever and forever more. I would say dear kindred weep not for her, for we know that she will never return to you but you can go to her. We know that when blooming youth is taken away it seems hard to part with them but if nature would permit we ought to rejoice to think that we had at least one more tie in Glory. The funeral was preached by Elder David Utt of Elk City to a very solemn assembly in Port. Then her little form was laid to rest in the Port Cemetery to await the resurrection morn when it will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air and ever be with the Lord. ---------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
