(The Elk City Daily News, Elk City, Beckham Co, Ok 21 April 1942) Last rites were to be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Carter Methodist church for Frederick J. Hankins, former Beckham county resident, who died last Wednesday at Burns, Ore. Burial was to be in the Carter Cemetery. Mr. Hankins lived in the Carter community for 30 years before moving to Oregon to make his home. He was born December 22, 1882, in Ellis county, Texas and was married March 15, 1911 to Oda Ball, who died in 1932. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Flossie Thompson of Grimes and Mrs. Katie Usrey of Burns, Ore. Other survivors include five brothers, George of Bethany, R. A. of Doxey, Clive of Holdenville, and John and Joe, both of Breckenridge, Tex; and three sisters, Mrs. Mae Johnson of Cleburne, Tex., Mrs. Lou Grigsby of Dallas, Texas, and Mrs. Virginia Cox of Texas.
