All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************ HANNI, GENEVA HANNI, MAGGIE (3 Apr 1919, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): BABY GENEVA HAWNIE (sic) Geneva, the youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hawnie, near Doxey, died last Friday, March 18th, about eleven o'clock, and funeral services were held on Sunday morning, March 30th, at nine o'clock. The little one would have been one year old yesterday, April 2nd. Rev. Steele of Sayre conducted the funeral services which were attended by a large circle of relatives and friends. Interment was made in Doxey cemetery. Little Geneva was a sweet little child and was a sunbeam in the home and she will be sadly missed by her loved ones. May God bless and comfort the bereft hearts and saddened homes. (3 Apr 1919, Thursday, Southwest Press, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Geneva, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hanni, died at their home near Doxey on Friday, March 28th, aged 11 months and 26 days. She and her sister, Maggie, had been ill for several months with pneumonia, following the flu, and later a form of paralysis. At the time of Geneva's death, Maggie was not expected to live, so the body was held until Sunday. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Steel, of Sayre. Interment at Doxey-Sayre cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Lambert and Nora, B. D. Gambill, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Dunbar, Jim, Oscar and Jack Lay and Mrs. Sullivan, all of Elk City, went out to Mr. Hanni's Friday night and some of them remained until after the funeral. Just as we go to press we learn that Maggie, aged 3 years, died this morning.
