HARRIS - Funeral services for Flossie Harris will be conducted 10:30 a.m., Friday, from the First Baptist Church of Elk City with Rev. Anthony Pennington and Rev. Alan Runge officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Martin Funeral Home. Flossie L. Harris was born June 11, 1900 in a half-dugout in Oklahoma Indian territory on the family homestead filed in 1898 to Ollie W. and Edith (Vernon) Quattlebaum and died late Tuesday at the age of 96. Flossie was married to Owen Harris in 1919. They survived the worst of the Dust Bowl days and were engaged in farming for over 50 years. In July of 1973, they moved to Elk City. Owen preceded her in death in 1974. Her career including college, writing, teaching, playing piano and doing art. Flossie was a longtime member of the Moorewood Baptist Church and attended the First Baptist Church for many years after moving to Elk City. Survivors include three children, Gale Harris of San Antonio, Texas, Lowell Harris of Oklahoma City and Deloris Hubbart of Odessa, Texas; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one great great gandchild; four sisters, Ruby Barten of Elk City, Ruth Ford of Littlefield, Texas, Helen Wright of Phoenix, Arizona and Aline Land of Dexter, Missouri; a host of other relatives and a multitude of friends.
