All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************ HART, PHOEBE ANN (28 Feb 1906, Wednesday, Elk City Record, Elk City, Beckham Co OK): Mrs. Phoebe A. Hart died at the home of her son, Rev. I. J. Hart, 3 miles northwest of Elk City, February 24, 1906. Mrs. Hart was a native of Kentucky, spent the larger share of her life in Texas, and came to Oklahoma but a short time before her death. She was the wife of Thomas Hart, a Baptist preacher of Texas, who died eleven years ago. Mrs. Hart was a mother of eight children, but three of whom out lived her. She was an active member of the Baptist church. She lived to see her posterity in the fourth generation, having departed this life as she neared her seventy-fourth birthday. She had been afflicted for a number of years and finally yielded to a disease of the heart which had threatened her for years. The funeral took place at the city cemetery, Sunday afternoon, attended by a large number of neighbors of the family and friends from the city. The services were conducted by Rev. T. D. Penn. (1 Mar 1906, Thursday, Elk City Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Mrs. Phoebe Hart died last Saturday at the home of her son Rev. Hart, 3 miles northwest of this city. Deceased was about 74 years of age and was the mother of eight children, only three of whom survive her.
