(5 Jun 1907, Wednesday, Elk City Record, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): OBITUARY. Henry F. Hester was born Dec. 29, 1856, in Jasper Co., Mo., near Joplin. He moved to Arkansas when but a child and was reared and educated there. He was converted and joined the Cumberland Pres. in 1879; was married to Miss Lizzie McAdoo, Sept. 28, 1880. Eight children were born to this union; four girls and four boys, all of whom survive him. Three of these are married, two daughters, Mrs. Dunlap, Mrs. Wooten and son Oran. Bro. Hester has been afflicted more or less, for eight or ten years, but kept on the go all the time until Jan. 28, '07, when he was stricken down with paralysis from which he never recovered. Some weeks before his death his christian experience became very bright, of which he spoke with much earnestness to his family as they came to his bedside. If I ever knew one of whom I was sure of his readiness to live or die, just as the Lord willed, it was Bro. Hester. He died May 26, 1907. His funeral was preached May 27, 1907, at 10 a.m., in the M.E.C.S. by the writer. G. R. Wright. ---------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
