All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ********************************************************************* HIX, MARY ELLEN (5 Nov 1930, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ellen Hix, 72, wife of W. S. Hix, pioneer in this section, were held this afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the family residence at the corner of Oklahoma Avenue and First street. Rev. L. E. Shaw, pastor of the Nazarene church, conducted the service. Mrs. Hix has been in ill health for several years. She died Tuesday afternoon at her home. Mrs. Hix was born October 30, 1858, in Missouri, and moved with her family to Texas where she was married. She came to Oklahoma with her husband in 1907, settling south of this city. Four sons and one daughter and the husband of Mrs. Hix survive. The sons are J. E. Hix, of Elk City, W. M. Hix and H. N. Hix of Shamrock, Texas. The daughter, Mrs. Annie Stallins, resides at Doxey. A sister, Mrs. Nannie Hoover, of San Francisco, Calif., also survives her. (Note: Only 3 sons named??) Killough-Hullum, funeral directors, were in charge.
