(12 Dec 1932, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Aged Civil War Veteran Dies Sunday. Final rites for Jesse Holcombe, 94 year old Confederate veteran, were held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon at the First Methodist Episcopal church with Rev. J. M. Carpenter officiating. Mr. Holcombe, a native of Virginia and a resident here since 1908, died at 7 a.m. Sunday at the home of his son, Harold Holcombe, 414 North Washington street, after an illness of two weeks. He was moved to his home from a city hospital a week ago today after an operation and was getting along satisfactorily until late last week. Mr. Holcombe was laid to rest at the Fairlawn cemetery beside his wife who died three years ago. Grubitz & Son funeral directors were in charge. Five children survive their father. There are the son with whom he lived and Allen Holcombe, of Kilgore, Texas, Mrs. B. H. Martin of Vienna, Mo., and Mrs. Thos. D.
