E. Dodson, of Vernon, Texas, was here Monday evening, and was counseling in the case of Mrs. W. T. Hollis, who has been seriously ill. (20 Sep 1905, Roger Mills Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Obituary. Mrs. Ella Wheeler Hollis was born in Grayson County, Texas, October 29, 1874, died in Elk City, Oklahoma, September 14, 1905. She was married to W. T. Hollis, November 21, 1891. By this union seven children were born, three being dead. She united with the Baptist church several years ago and has lived a true christian life. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America. She leaves a husband, four children, mother and four brothers to mourn her loss. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Payton. (21 Sep 1905, Thursday, Elk City Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Mrs. W. T. Hollis, who has been sick for several weeks, died Tuesday last. She had been a great sufferer for years, but bore her sufferings with patience and forbearance. She leaves a husband and four children to mourn her death. She was 30 years and was born in Texas. The funeral was preached at the Baptist church by the pastor, Rev. Peyton, after which the remains were taken to the city cemetery followed by a large concourse of sorrowing friends.
