Elmer Howard, a well known young man of this section, died at the home on Jefferson street on the thirtieth of December after an illness of several days with pneumonia. Funeral services were conducted at the home by Rev. Brubaker of the Dunkard church and the remains were laid to rest in the local cemetery. Deceased is survived by his widow and one child. Funeral arrangements were in charge of Chandler & Robinson. (4 Jan 1917, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): DEATH OF ELMER HOWARD Elmer Howard, who recently moved here died last Friday of pneumonia after a short illness. He was seventeen years, eleven months and eighteen days old; was married and leaves a wife and one child. Robinson & Chandler had charge of the funeral, with Rev. Brubaker officiating. Interment was made at Fairlawn cemetery.
