(29 Mar 1917, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): DEATH OF J. W. HOWE J. W. Howe, whose illness was noted in last week's items from here, died Thursday, after a short illness of pneumonia. He had been in poor health for some time, and had given up his business to travel, when he was striken (sic) with pneumonia. Funeral services were held in the Methodist church on Friday afternoon, and a very large crowd was in attendance. Rev. Orgain had charge of the services. Mr. Howe was sixty-six years old and had lived in this vicinity for many years. He has been in the mercantile business here but sold out a short time before to J. Murray.
